I highly recommended this course. I did a test before and after the institut. I went from A2 to B2 in 2 weeks and start talking with confidence. They have a great methology, alternating between one activity to the other, includes culture, amazing chefs that cook super healthy and delicious with a great smile always and the place is a super charming house, with beautiful garden and a breathtaking view. I love the pause to sit in a nive chair with the amazing view of the sea. Love it! It was the best decision ever. I could combine a intense learning with the beach bath every day. Prefered to stay in beaulieu sur mer ( more convenient to go to the beach - less hills). I counted with Sylvie (taxi) everyday from institut to my apartment in Beaulieu sur Mer. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ **Excellent, intense, and highly effective immersion!** I recently completed a 4-week total immersion course at the Institute de Français, and it was an outstanding experience. The program is incredibly intense—you commit to speaking French from 8:30 AM until 4:45 PM every day—but the progress you make is absolutely worth it. **The Method & Classroom Experience** The core method relies on a rapid question-and-answer structure designed to build correct pronunciation and grammatical habits. To work perfectly, students need to follow the guidelines provided in the introductory booklet: waiting your turn and letting the person called upon answer. Unfortunately, in my class, a few students hadn't read the material and frequently blurted out answers. Rather than pulling them aside or addressing the method explicitly, the teacher visibly frustrated, which added some unnecessary stress to the room. Clearer enforcement of the classroom guidelines by the staff would make a great system even better. **Daily Highlights** * **Séance Pratique:** This afternoon session was my absolute favorite! The teacher, Silvie, was incredible. While being called on was a bit terrifying the first few days, she made it immensely fun, practical, and highly useful. * **Language Lab & Daily Wrap-up:** The daily lab sessions perfectly reinforced our classroom structures. I also loved how we ended the day back in the classroom—reviewing homework and learning a French song was a beautiful, relaxing way to wind down. **The Food & Hospitality** The meals here are a massive highlight. Breakfast is a hearty spread (eggs, ham, cheese, pastries, fruit, and yogurt). Lunch is an incredibly special three-course experience where you sit with a teacher to keep the French conversation flowing. The chefs are exceptionally talented—serving delicious proteins over perfectly prepared vegetables and grains—and they are highly attentive to food allergies. The school is very difficult for beginners and by beginners I mean, someone that has never spoken French or learned any French! That being said, the Professors are amazing! The location cannot be beat.. And I learned so so much! The only thing that I would change is perhaps prepare beginners a little bit more before coming Also offer an electronic version of all the documents. A fantastic course and overall experience!  I have done 10 minutes of Duolingo French per day over the past 10+ years, from which I have made slow but steady progress but I felt that this needed to be turbocharged.  I could previously understand a reasonable amount in writing, but my speaking and listening was much weaker.  4 weeks of fully-immersive French with c. 8 hours per day has certainly accelerated my progress substantially!  The prospect of no English being spoken was a bit daunting, but the tutors do a detailed assessment of your level (anywhere from absolute beginner through to advanced) on the first day before assigning you to small groups and the tutors are also very experienced and patient in helping your understanding and progression.  The food is also excellent and there are a number of social activities that create a great overall ambience and forge many friendships.  The institut itself is also situated in a beautiful spot in Villefrance-sur-Mer (NB: there are some hills, so pick your accommodation accordingly).  I’d highly recommend this - do the full 4 weeks if you can, it’s possible to do 2 or 3 weeks but I felt that I was just hitting my stride by then so wouldn’t have wanted to finish earlier.

I recently completed the 4-week course and enjoyed it hugely. The teachers were all very friendly and professional and the structure of the wholly immersive programme made it almost impossible not to see significant improvements in both understanding and speaking French. Gazing daily over the bay of Villefranche was an absolute treat as were the incredible 3-course lunches. As a bonus I also made some great new friends from all over the world. Ich kann mich den Kommentaren der Gäste des Institut de Français uneingeschränkt anschließen - diese Sprachschule ist ein Erlebnis, ein Abenteuer und ein Ort, an dem man unmittelbar eintaucht in die französische Sprache. Ich bin vier Wochen (seit Ende März 2026) hier gewesen. Dank der Unterrichtsmethode und der unfassbar guten Lehrer machte ich Fortschritte, die ich nicht erwartet hatte. Die Lehrer in den unterschiedlichen Klassen wurden von allen Schülern maximal gelobt. Jede Klasse hatte ihren persönlichen Lehrer. In den séances pratiques und während der Mahlzeiten lernte man jedoch alle Lehrer kennen und schätzen. Julien ist mein Lehrer gewesen. Ich kann mir keinen besseren vorstellen. Mit 66 Jahren kann ich auf zahlreiche schulische und berufliche Lernerfahrungen zurückblicken und konstatieren, dass Lehrer zwar oft ihr Fach beherrschen, was sie jedoch nicht zwingend zu einem guten Lehrer qualifiziert. Der Unterricht von Julien war begeisternd, seine pädagogische Kompetenz ist herausragend. Sein Esprit, sein Humor und seine Weise, Inhalte in "appetitlichen Häppchen" auch szenisch darzustellen, war lehrreich, einprägsam und zugleich kurzweilig. Ich bin eher zurückhaltend, wenn ich mich in einer fremden Sprache und Umgebung verständigen soll. Nun bin ich nach meinem Aufenthalt in Villefranche noch in Nizza geblieben und erlebe, dass ich mich problemlos in allen Situationen verständigen kann. Unglaublich auch, dass ich beginne, Französisch zu denken. Wie findet das Institut seine Lehrer? Solche Perlen liegen ja nicht an allen "pädagogischen Stränden". Gute Pädagogen sind wertvolle Schätze - sie verdienen höchste Anerkennung und bleiben dem Institut de Français hoffentlich lange erhalten. Zusammenfassend bleibt zu sagen: die Schule ist sehr einladend aufgrund ihrer herrlichen Lage sowie aufgrund des integrierten Frühstücks und Mittagessens. Und sie ist eine fantastische Möglichkeit, mit Schülern aus aller Welt Französisch immersiv zu lernen - man taucht ein in ein "Sprachbad". Ich habe so einen Ort gesucht und mich nach umfänglicher Recherche für das Institut de Français entschieden. Diese Wahl war ein "Volltreffer". Danke, dass es diesen Ort gibt. If you are an adult student who is looking to advance your French speaking / listening skills, Institut de Français is the place to do it. I had such a wonderful time. From the great teachers, the overall learning approach, and the environment at the school - you will feel that unique combination of language immersion alongside cultural enrichment. I initially started with a plan to stay 2 out of the 4 weeks, however I decided to stay for a 3rd after seeing how valuable the program is.
